Release notes - 2.5

Humly suite (2026-10-16)

Humly 2.5 introduces recurring reservations in Humly Reservation, automatic firmware upgrades for Humly devices, issue reporting on desks from the Booking Device, HTML emails and booking system sync monitoring, together with a set of platform, security and installer improvements across the Control Panel, Floor Plan, Visitor, Room Display, Booking Device and Print Service.

Highlights

  • Recurring reservations — book daily, weekly or monthly series in Humly Reservation and edit a single occurrence or the whole series. Works with Microsoft 365, Exchange, Google Calendar and standalone resources.
  • Automatic firmware upgrades — the Control Panel detects new firmware and rolls it out to Booking Devices and Room Displays during their sleep window, with a limit on simultaneous downloads.
  • Desk features, equipment and issue reporting — assign equipment and a desk type (fixed seated, height-adjustable, fixed standing) to each desk, let people filter desks by them in Humly Reservation, and let them report a broken monitor, chair or other equipment directly on the Booking Device.
  • HTML emails — choose between plain text and HTML for all emails sent from the Control Panel.
  • Booking system sync monitoring — the Control Panel now tracks whether each resource still synchronizes with the booking system and flags the ones that have stopped.
  • Desk occupancy sensors — Disruptive Technologies desk occupancy sensors and other occupancy or presence sensors now drive presence booking and check-in, so desks can be booked and released automatically.
  • Trusted CA certificates — upload your own CA certificates in the setup wizard or Global Settings for on-premise Exchange, LDAP, ADFS and Print Service connections.
  • End ongoing bookings in Reservation — end a meeting early from Humly Reservation, the same way as on a device, instead of deleting it.
  • Self-Hosted Perpetual License — support for the perpetual license model for on-premise installations.

New Features & Enhancements

Humly Reservation

  • Recurring reservations: repeat a booking daily, weekly or monthly with a custom interval, and end the series on a date, after a number of occurrences, or never. Conflicts with existing bookings are reported before the series is created. A reservation in a series can be changed on its own or for the whole series.
  • Reorganized booking dialog: the booking dialog now has a Book tab and an Attendees tab, on both desktop and mobile, to make room for the recurrence settings.
  • End an ongoing booking: an End button lets the organizer end a meeting in progress, so the booking is shortened and kept in history instead of deleted.
  • Find the right desk: a new "Features & equipment" filter lets people pick desks by desk type (fixed seated, height-adjustable or fixed standing) and equipment such as dual monitors, dock, keyboard, mouse, webcam or chair.
  • Unsaved changes warning: closing the booking dialog with unsaved changes now asks for confirmation instead of discarding the changes.

Humly Control Panel

  • Booking system sync monitoring: the Control Panel records when each resource last synchronized with the booking system and flags resources whose synchronization is failing, so a changed or removed mailbox is noticed before people arrive at the room.
  • Automatic firmware upgrade: enable it under Global Settings → Firmware and the Control Panel downloads new firmware and upgrades devices during the first hours after wake-up. A new "Maximum simultaneous firmware downloads" setting controls the load on your network.
  • HTML emails: a new "Email appearance" setting in Global Settings lets you choose Plain text or HTML for all emails sent by the Control Panel.
  • Calendar invitations per resource type: when "Invite authenticated user" is enabled, choose which resource types (rooms, desks, parking) should send a calendar invitation to the organizer.
  • Trusted CA certificates: upload custom CA certificates in the setup wizard or in Global Settings instead of editing server configuration files. Certificates are kept across upgrades and used for on-premise Exchange, LDAP, ADFS and Print Service connections.
  • Self-Hosted Perpetual License: on-premise installations can now run on a perpetual license with a companion maintenance license. The license is shown as Perpetual under Licenses.
  • Desk occupancy and presence sensors: occupancy and presence sensors, including Disruptive Technologies desk occupancy sensors, can now be used everywhere a motion sensor could before: presence-based booking, presence check-in and phone booth mode. This makes sensor-based desk booking possible with a sensor that detects a seated person rather than movement. The resource setting is now called "Presence sensor".
  • Desk features and equipment: the Desk settings now hold a desk type (fixed seated, height-adjustable or fixed standing) and the equipment available at the desk: monitor, dual monitors, dock, keyboard, mouse, webcam, chair and lighting. These drive the new desk filter in Humly Reservation and the issue reporting on the Booking Device.
  • Remembered table settings: the number of rows shown in a table now survives a page reload.
  • SMS log entries: sent text messages are now listed in the log in the same way as emails.
  • Device login protection: device logins are rate limited to keep the Control Panel responsive when many devices reconnect at once.
  • Customer Terms and Data Processing Agreement: the installers and the setup wizard now present the Humly Customer Terms and the Data Processing Agreement in place of the previous End User License Agreement.
  • Microsoft 365 Continuous Access Evaluation: the Microsoft 365 integration now supports Continuous Access Evaluation, so revoked access and Conditional Access changes take effect in near real time.
  • Optional metrics endpoint: on-premise installations can enable a Prometheus metrics endpoint at install time. It is off by default.

Floor Plan

  • Room names on the map: room names are shown on the floor plan, the map can be switched between 2D and 3D, and zooming is smoother.

Humly Visitor

  • Attendee removal in Outlook: removing an attendee from the Outlook meeting now also revokes their visitor invitation and registration.

Humly Signage

  • More URL mode commands: a signage web page running on a Room Display can now read the device serial number, reboot the device and control the display backlight.

Humly Booking Device

  • Report issue for desks: a new information view with a Report issue button lets users report a problem with any equipment configured on the desk, such as the monitor, chair, keyboard, mouse, dock, webcam or lighting. The feature is enabled per resource in the Desk settings, and reports are listed in Monitoring.
  • Admin button: the admin view is opened from a dedicated Admin button next to Report issue instead of tapping the firmware version.
  • Hebrew: Hebrew is now available as a display language.
  • License notice (cloud): the device shows a discreet "License has expired" notice when the installation has fewer Booking Device licenses than online devices.

Humly Room Display

  • Automatic recovery from boot freezes: the Room Display firmware now uses the hardware watchdog and an improved fail-safe, so a device that hangs during startup restarts on its own instead of waiting for a manual power cycle.
  • Lighter connection to the Control Panel: the Room Display subscribes to fewer live data streams, reducing load on the Control Panel in large deployments.
  • No external font requests: the room panel no longer fetches fonts from Google, so the device does not contact any third party while rendering.
  • Numeric keyboard for the port field: the setup screen switches to the numeric keyboard automatically when entering a port number.

Humly Print Service

  • More robust installer: install, upgrade and uninstall handle more edge cases that previously required manual clean-up.

Bug Fixes

Booking & Scheduling

  • Fixed a resource not being bookable right after an ongoing booking on it was deleted in Reservation.
  • Fixed new buildings and floors created by CSV import not appearing in the location filter on devices until a restart.
  • Fixed Google Workspace bookings failing when the organizer's address belongs to another Google tenant.
  • Fixed importing desk and parking resources from Google Workspace silently importing nothing.
  • Fixed catering and other service order emails not being sent on a fresh installation until the service was restarted.
  • Fixed the catering "Note to users" losing its line breaks in Reservation.
  • Lighting is no longer listed as desk equipment in Reservation.
  • Fixed a crash in the scheduled-tasks process that could pause synchronization and monitoring for about 90 seconds.
  • People count and motion readings are no longer dropped by the 60-second minimum interval between sensor readings.

Control Panel UI

  • Fixed "User is not authorized" when editing a structure that does not yet contain any resources.
  • Input fields no longer show unrelated browser autofill suggestions.
  • The browser no longer offers to save credentials after changing the pairing key.
  • Standalone resources, which have no synchronization, now show a green sync icon.
  • Assorted small layout fixes in the Control Panel and on the Room Display.

Users & Authentication

  • Fixed the RFID card not being removable from a user.
  • Users imported from CSV without a PIN now get one generated.
  • A local user can now be added with the same email address as a user synced from a Microsoft SSO group.
  • Fixed Room Display registration failing with "Registration period should be set in global settings".

Integrations

  • The Microsoft 365 integration now reuses its sign-in token instead of requesting a new one on every call, reducing sign-in traffic in the tenant.
  • The "Client secret has expired" warning now clears after the Microsoft 365 client secret is replaced.
  • Standalone emails with attachments now display correctly in Apple Mail.

Humly Visitor

  • The Visitor Pro add-in now shows the configured logo and icon in classic Outlook.
  • Visitor badges now print non-Latin visitor, host and building names correctly.
  • Reduced database load from the visitor badge clean-up task on sites with large visitor logs.

Room Display & Booking Device

  • Fixed the Booking Device not waking up on Mondays with certain sleep start and end times.
  • Fixed the Booking Device not getting an IP address over Ethernet after a power loss.
  • The Booking Device now retries with backoff when the Control Panel temporarily rejects a login, instead of staying disconnected.
  • Fixed the Finnish "in x minutes" text being cut off during check-in on the Booking Device, and aligned the Room Display wording.
  • Fixed an error logged at every Room Display startup.

Installation & Runtime

  • The Linux installer no longer stops on package prompts or fails on upgrades from older versions.
  • MongoDB is updated to 7.0.40, which closes recently published security advisories.
  • On Linux, the Control Panel and Print Service now run as systemd services with memory limits, and logs are rotated by the system.
  • Invalid phone number formats are logged as warnings instead of errors.

Translations

  • Added missing translations for the check-in texts in Reservation and corrected the hover color of the check-in button.

Known issues

  • Safari Browser Authorization: Device authorization using Safari expires after one week. Additionally, Screen Approval is not supported on Safari.
  • Proxy/Google Authentication: Running on-prem HCP with proxy and Google authentication is currently not supported.
  • Login issues with MFA: Logging in to the Humly provisioning app fails if MFA is enabled. To access the app, you must temporarily disable MFA on your user account.
  • iOS Provisioning App: Onboarding Humly Booking Devices (HBDs) via the iOS app may fail in some instances. As a workaround, restart both the phone and the HBD device, then retry the onboarding process.
  • Multi-Day All-Day Meetings: Meetings marked as "All Day" spanning more than one day cannot be edited in Humly Reservations.
  • Morning Boot Freeze (Humly Room Display): In rare cases, Humly Room Displays may freeze on the logo screen during morning startup. The 2.5 Room Display firmware restarts the device automatically in this situation; on older firmware a manual reboot resolves the issue.
