What is sender email in Global Settings?

Setting a different sender email in Humly Control Panel is supported for backends M365, Microsoft Exchange and Google Workspace.

Changing sender email changes the sender of all emails from Humly Control Panel.
Under normal circumstances it is the service account email that is the sender of all emails. However, sometimes this email address might not be suitable and you want use something else within your organisation.

For example, if your service account email address is service-account@yourdomain.com, this will be the sender email all users will see when they receive an email about i.e. user account creation/update, check-in reminder, booking cancellation etc.

So, if you want to use a more user-friendly sender email like booking-service@yourdomain.com, without having to change your service account, then setting a sender email is the solution.

  1. Go to Settings in the main menu

  2. In settings click on Global Settings

  3. Go to Service Account for your booking system and click the Change-button

Sender email must be a mailbox which is in scope of impersonation. It should be set up the same way as standard service account.

If you are using M365 and have originally set up Humly Control v1.4 or earlier with Modern OAuth, then you might need to update the client secret as well to support changing sender email. To learn more about how to do this go to Updating outdated OAuth in Humly Control Panel for M365
