How Exchange 2016/2019 Upgrade affects Humly Control Panel

If you are planning an Exchange 2016/2019 Upgrade to Exchange SE, this document will clarify the requirements related to Humly Control Panel.

Microsoft has announced that support for Exchange Server 2016 and 2019 will end on October 14, 2025. After this date, Microsoft recommends customers transition to Exchange Server Subscription Edition (Exchange SE) or Microsoft 365.

If you are planning to upgrade your Exchange 2016/2019 to Exchange SE, then you have one of the following paths:

  • In-Place Upgrade: If you are doing an "In-Place" Exchange 2016/2019 upgrade to Exchange SE, then your Humly Control Panel setup will continue to work as is, without any changes required (assuming the EWS URL will not change).
  • Legacy Upgrade: In this type of upgrade, the new Exchange SE will be prepared on another server, and mailbox migration should be performed.
In this case, the same Humly Control Panel cloud instance will not work with the new Exchange SE, so please consider the following steps:
    1. Reach out to Humly Support and request a new, fresh cloud instance.
    2. Set up the new cloud instance using the new Exchange SE information (New EWS URL and Service Account). Exchange Booking System Prep.
    3. Import the migrated resource mailboxes to Humly Control Panel, complete HCP setup. Connect HCP to Exchange
    4. Disconnect the devices, Humly Room Displays (HRDs), and Humly Booking Devices (HBDs) for the old cloud instance, and connect them to the newly configured cloud instance with Exchange SE. How to connect Humly Room Display & How to connect Humly Booking Device
    5. Inform Humly Support team when you do not need the old Humly Control Panel instace.
